Schiaparelli ‘Sleeping’ perfume bottle,  designed by Salvador Dali for Baccarat, in the form of a candle in a candlestick, circa late 1930s / 40s


With red gilt flame stopper, press moulded mark ‘Schiaparelli bottle made in France’ to base, together with small cylindrical glass bottle of 'Sleeping' with black plastic screw stopper and applied paper label with original contents, and a miniature rectangular glass bottle of 'Sleeping'


Launched in France in 1938 and in  USA in 1939, the bottle, packaging and associated advertising ephemera  was designed for Schiaparelli by Salvador  Dali, with the early bottle produced by Cristalleries de Baccarat

Size: The candlestick bottle, 16cm high, the larger full bottle, 9.5cm high, the miniature bottle, 6cm high
Condition: Gilding worn to candlestick bottle, the full bottle with some minor discolouration to the label, the miniature bottle lacking contents and with old discolouration to the lower part of the inside
