Medium Schiaparelli ‘Shocking’ perfume bottle, influenced by Salvador Dali and Surrealist artist Leonor Fini, after Mae West’s torso, in glass dome, introduced 1936, circa late 1930s

 

The perfume bottle with gilt stopper and multi-coloured glass flower decoration, the glass body decorated with a blue ribbon and applied silver sticker, in glass dome with transfer lace decoration on pink and gold base

 

Introduced in 1936, the bottles shape, inspired by Salvador Dali’s paintings and the sculptured by Eleonore Fini based on Mae West’s curvaceous torso, and draped in shocking pink was originally made in Czechoslovakia. It was re-launched in 1998.
