Schiaparelli ‘Shocking’ perfume bottle, influenced by Salvador Dali and Surrealist artist Leonor Fini, after Mae West’s torso, in glass dome, circa late 1930s,  ¾ FL OZ


The perfume bottle with gilt stopper and multi-coloured glass flower decoration, the glass body decorated with a paper tape measure with script ‘Schiaparelli Shocking’ and applied silver sticker, marked with a transfer at the bottom of the bottle with ‘Parfums Schiaparelli, Inc. Distributors, New York Net Cont ¾ FL OZ’, some contents remaining, in glass dome with transfer lace decoration on pink and gold base


Launched in 1936, the bottle inspired by Salvador Dali’s paintings and the sculptured by Eleonore Fini based on Mae West’s curvaceous torso, and draped in shocking pink was originally made in Czechoslovakia. It was re-launched in 1998.
