LOT NUMBER 8
Rare large ruby red Bakelite buckle, American 1930s
This is a very unusual and large buckle made from ruby red Bakelite, shaped in a semi abstract form with a large rectangular central plaque between two similar smaller plaques each with a stylised openwork foliate device at the ends, the plaques with deeply cut wavy line designs, the reverse plain with metal bar attachment fittings and a curved edge clasp all attached with screws. There are no real parallels for this piece which almost seems like a reinterpretation of ancient Chinese lacquer wares but the angular and abstract design is very much from the Art Deco era.| Size: | 16cm x 5cm |
| Weight: | 54.5gm |
| Date: | 1930s |
| Condition: | Very good condition, no issues |
| Estimate: | £60 – 80 |
