LOT NUMBER 10
Chinese Fan, painting on silk, 1960s
A Chinese fan of irregular hexagonal shape with a bamboo effect handle, the silk panel edged with stitching and delicately painted with two goldfish and reeds in a pond setting. This lot is another example of the fans made by the Chinese as handicrafts exports to the West in the mid twentieth century, two other examples of which can be seen in the previous lot. The representation of the fish here is particularly pleasing.Size: | 19 cm (max) x 20 cm (fan); 31 cm (overall length) |
