LOT NUMBER 11
Pair of Chinese Paintings on Silk, framed, C20th
A pair of Chinese paintings on silk, each rectangular panel with indented corners and finished with yellow ground patterned edging, the first depicting a lady in a garden with rocks and bamboo, the second with a mountainous landscape scene, a river bank and a man in a boat to the foreground with craggy tree lined rocky outcrops in the distance the further one surrounded by mist. Both pictures are signed in script with a red seal mark below, most likely denoting the artist or the artist copied by the painter. The style of the brushwork implies twentieth century work and the dating is probably to the 1960s. The paintings were later framed in Europe and provide a complementary pair of decorative items which accurately reflect the tradition of classical Chinese painting.Size: | 22 cm x 38 cm |
