Japanese Imari Vase of Water Dropper Form, Meiji Period, circa 1900

A Japanese Imari Vase with an ovoid body and a slender neck, probably intended as a water dropper and decorated in the typical Imari palette of underglaze blue, iron red and gold with a boldly painted design of stylised flowers and two panels also with stylised flowers, the neck with a band of repeating plantain leaves. Paste of the foot and style of decoration suggest a circa date towards the end of the Meiji period (1868-1912).
