LOT NUMBER 27
Three Art Glass Paperweights, late C20th
An attractive group of three contrasting paperweights, two teardrop shape and one globular. Provenance and dating are inevitably speculative but all three were most likely made in the later years of the twentieth century. The globular one is probably British, perhaps one of the Scottish studios such as Selkirk or Caithness but there are no markings or labels to confirm this. The narrower teardrop one, with its design of red fish swimming amidst stylised rocks is probably Italian and possibly Murano; the workshops there often favoured marine influenced designs. The other, with its design of bubbles above a cranberry coloured base is even less identifiable with any certainty but is again probably British. All three are in excellent condition comprising an assembled set which is both practical and decorative.Size: | (i) Globular : Ht 7cm, Diam (max) 8cm, Base 5cm (ii) Fish : Ht 8cm, Width (max) 6cm, Base 3cm (iii) Bubbles : Ht 9cm, Width (max) 8cm, Base 5.5cm |
