Victorian Black Watch iron doorstop c1890
This is a whimsical doorstop in the form of a Black Watch soldier. It is made of cold paint decorated iron. The 'Black Watch' was another name for The Royal Highlanders, a famed Scottish regiment of the British Army, distinguished by its longevity, having been initially formed in 1725.| Size: | 28 cm high |
| Weight: | 1035 grams |
| Date: | c1890 |
| Condition: | This is quite worn as it must have been standing outdoors; but it still does the job and the weathered patina is rather pleasing. |
| Estimate: | £15 – 20 |
