Danish silver plate Photograph Holder, with repoussé decoration, 1970s/1980s
This is a folding silver plate photograph holder each side with a similar repoussé work scene of a traditional rustic interior with metal workers busy plying their trade. Repoussé work is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief. Very similar pieces carry a mark for Denmark, as here, (see image 4) but also the initials JThS, or a slight variant on this, which seem to stand for Jorgen Th Steffenson of Randers who is known to have worked in the late 1970s. While not necessarily by him, a similar dating is most likely here.| Size: | Width (closed) 6.2cm, Length 9cm, Depth 0.3cm |
| Weight: | 65gm |
| Date: | 1970s/1980s |
| Condition: | Good condition, the celluloid covering for the photographs replaced |
| Estimate: | £30 – 40 |
