Danish silver plate Photograph Holder, with repoussé decoration, 1970s/1980s

This is a folding silver plate photograph holder each side with a similar repoussé work scene of a traditional rustic interior with metal workers busy plying their trade. Repoussé work is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief. Very similar pieces carry a mark for Denmark, as here, (see image 4) but also the initials JThS, or a slight variant on this, which seem to stand for Jorgen Th Steffenson of Randers who is known to have worked in the late 1970s. While not necessarily by him, a similar dating is most likely here.
Size: Width (closed) 6.2cm, Length 9cm, Depth 0.3cm
Weight: 65gm
Date: 1970s/1980s
Condition: Good condition, the celluloid covering for the photographs replaced
Estimate: £30 – 40
