Georgian small wood Spice Cabinet with six drawers, early C19th
A small mahogany wood cabinet, the front door with globular bead detail and hinged to the right opening to reveal five drawers, four smaller and one larger. Cabinets such as these, which are always hinged to the right are often described as spice cabinets but could also have been used as an apothecary case or even for storing tea. The accessories on this cabinet appear to be original and the format of the front handle and the rectangular beaded frame suggest late Georgian rather than Victorian workmanship and other similar cabinets are dated to that period or even before, making this a safe assumption here. The size of this piece is both charming and practical and it survives in excellent condition with just a few scratches to the sides making it an interesting addition to a collection of early nineteenth century furniture.| Size: | Ht 20cm, Width 15.7cm, Depth 8.7cm |
| Weight: | 885gm |
| Date: | Early C19th |
| Condition: | A few very slight markings/rubbings to the exterior surface, the base with a very slight area of the surface finish missing/chipped; the door handle loose. |
| Estimate: | £40 – 60 |
