Two Egyptian glass Scent Bottles, C20th
The form of these two bottles with ridged bands to the body and the distinctive twisted leaf shape to the tops of the stoppers indicates manufacture in Egypt where similar pieces were produced in some quantity in the second half of the twentieth century and can occasionally be found with a label indicating the country of manufacture. The shapes are usually elaborate and the decoration lavish with considerable use of gilding as here. Highly decorative these are ornamental rather than practical pieces but would certainly add a touch of opulence to the dressing table.| Size: | (i) Purple : Ht (max) 14cm, Ht (bottle) 10cm, Width (max) 3cm, Base 3cm (ii) Clear : Ht (max) 14cm, Ht (bottle) 9.5cm, Width (max) 3.5cm, Base 3cm, Stopper length 9.5cm |
| Weight: | 60gm (pair) |
| Date: | Second half C20th |
| Condition: | Good condition generally; the wand of the stopper to the purple bottle broken off (see image XXXX) |
| Estimate: | £20 – 30 |
