Chinese Silk Embroidered Clutch Bag, 1920s
A Chinese silk embroidered clutch bag with silver metal mounts and clasps, the black ground with two contrasting designs, the first with two figures in a four wheeled cart in a stylised rural scene with flowers, fencing and birds, the second with three figures in a gondola like boat on a river surrounded by pine and bamboo with a pavilion in the distance. The mount and clasp are in silver metal and the interior is lined with black silk with a separate purse fitted with a double ball clasp. The style of the embroidery work and the form of the mount and clasp suggest a dating to the 1920s.| Size: | 23 x 13 cm |
