LOT NUMBER 1
Lacquer Box in the form of a Duck, possibly Persian C20th
This is an amusing trinket box in the form of a duck made from black lacquer with gilt decoration, the lid with wings and a feathered tail and the head with gilt eyes and beak. The base has a simple band of a repeating gilt geometric design. The form resembles the well known Chinese export porcelain 'goose' tureens made in the eighteenth century but the lacquer technique has more of Persian feel to it and this may be a more likely provenance. The whimsical style also suggests a date of manufacture in the 1960s or 1970s.Size: | 22 cm long, 13 cm high and 10 cm wide |
