Victorian Whitby jet mourning brooch

This is a quite large brooch in a scroll work design and Greek key edging. It is Whitby jet a fossilised wood stone that is from the Jurassic period that is found in the North York moors in northern England. Whitby jet was the main material for mourning jewellery during the Victorian age for obvious reasons.

Weight: 31.4 grams
Date: 1900
Condition: Very good condition, there are some nibbles on the edge and there is a natural crack on the edge that is not a damage. See images.
