LOT NUMBER 11
Art Glass Doorstop with Starburst and Bubble designs, perhaps British, late C20th
An Art Glass Doorstop of near spherical form with a flat foot, the crystal style glass incorporating starburst effects in light maroon and blue above a purple ground, all interspersed with bubbles. Similar pieces in a slightly smaller scale are usually described as paperweights, but the size and weight of this item suggests rather a doorstop or 'dump'. High quality paperweights in a variety of rounded forms were made by various studios in Scotland in the mid to late twentieth century and perhaps this is what we have here but no firm attribution is possible. The skill of the maker, though, is self evident.Size: | 10cm x 10cm x 5cm (foot diameter) |
