LOT NUMBER 25
Chinese Imari Teapot Stand, Kangxi period circa 1720
A Chinese Imari square dish with raised sides and indented corners, usually regarded as a stand for a teapot, and decorated in the typical colourings of underglaze blue, iron red and gold with a standard design of floral sprays surrounding a central roundel, also with a flower head, the border with a repeating stylised floral border pattern incorporating 'precious objects', the rim with a brown dressed edge, the outside with a border similar to that inside and the base flat and unglazed. The form of this piece, which is not found in the later eighteenth century, the style of decoration and the paste and finish of the base all suggest a dating towards the end of the Kangxi period (1662-1722).Size: | 15cm x 15cm x 3 cm |
Weight: | 314 gm |
Date: | 1720 |
