Incredible Chinoiserie statement necklace, attr. Roger Scemama 1960s
This is an amazing Chinioiserie statement necklace, with images of the Buddha with pagodas and birds, made from brass (would have been gilded) with glass accents and enamel. This necklace is attributed to parurier Roger Scemama (1898 - 1989) who worked between the 1920s and the 1970s. He worked with the main designers of the period such as Dior, Givenchy, Lanvin and Schiaparelli to name a few. He designed jewellery to go with the amazing clothes these designers produced to use during fashion shows or to sell to the ladies who bought the clothes. He is quite famous for designing Audrey Hepburn’s jewellery in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. When they would use one of his designs the piece was either signed by the designer (i.e. Dior, Givenchy etc) or it was unsigned.Size: | Necklace 42 cm long with 12 cm extender, drop is 13 cm |
