LOT NUMBER 39
A set of three Millefiori Glass Paperweights, possibly Italian Murano, late C20th
A set of three glass paperweights of rounded dome form decorated with a multitude of closely packed flower heads in yellow and red on a dark green ground in the 'millefiori' or 'thousand flower' pattern, the all over design extending right to the base which is slightly concave with traces of the blowing technique. While similar to pieces made by the Murano Glass factory in Italy a clear provenance for these examples cannot be securely given. Dating is probably towards the end of the twentieth century but this does not diminish the decorative appeal. The decoration on each is very similar but not absolutely identical which reflects the hand blowing techniques. This set is sold with matching contemporary illuminated stands which enhance the decorative effect considerably and provide a modest light display installation for the home (see illustrations 5 and 6).
