LOT NUMBER 24
Art Deco Style Bagley Glass Vase with fin type handles 1930s
An Art Deco style glass Vase made by Bagley Glass, of urn form, the slender ovoid body modelled with a swirling design and finished with a crimped rim, set with two fin shape handles and resting on a squared base, all finished in a mottled blue colour wave. The form clearly reflects pieces from the Art Deco period and coloured glass was not produced by the firm until the 1930s. The shape here is unusual and similar examples are hard to find. This piece was mould made, as can be seen from the base, but probably also finished by hand in common with many other pieces from the firm. Dating has to be assumed. Bagley pieces are not marked and popular designs were sometimes continued long after their introduction.Size: | 28 x 13 cm |
