LOT NUMBER 14
Set of three Bohemian cut crystal glass Perfume Bottles and Stoppers, mid C20th
A set of three perfume bottles and stoppers, each of hexagonal form with short cylindrical necks and a galleried rim, the stoppers facetted, the bodies with a cut glass pattern of diamonds and flash glass complementary colourings of red, orange and blue to the interior. The technique of ‘flash glass’ employed here involves coating clear glass with a thin layer of coloured glass by placing a piece of coloured melted glass into another piece of clear melted glass and then blowing the two together. It is particularly associated with so called ‘Bohemian’ glass produced for export from the nineteenth century onwards by the workshops from the regions of Bohemia and Silesia, now parts of the Czech Republic. Dating here is probably to the mid twentieth century and this is an attractive set which has survived in excellent condition and would form an elegant accessory for the dressing table.Size: | Ht 12cm, Diam 4cm |
