Very fine German silver scent bottle, Christoph Widmann, c1920

This is an extremely fine silver scent bottle with the decoration comprising delicately formed flowers and scroll work. It has the Crescent and Crown mark for Germany and the makers mark 'W' for the celebrated German silversmith Christoph Widmann, who began producing fine silverware at his newly founded factory in Pforzheim in 1919. Dating probably to the 1920s, this bottle is also marked '835' which was a typical silver purity in Germany at this time. The craftsmanship is exquisite and a fine example of Widmann's work at its best.
