Set of three prints of Pierrot figures, signed Panos, oak frames, second half C20th
A set of three prints depicting Pierrot figures in typical costume, one seated, one holding an umbrella and one looking at a butterfly. The originals of these prints were by Joyce Panos, a designer/artist from the 1970s and 1980s, primarily known for her ‘Pierrot’ themed artwork and designs for various household items, such as bedding, pillowcases (see image 19), plates, and candleholders, which were manufactured by companies such as JP Stevens & Co and Silvestri. The Pierrot figure had long been a favourite subject for artists but the version here was well suited to the times with its reminiscences of the singer David Bowie. The oak frames are doubtless contemporary and complement the prints well but have something of a 1930s look to them which perhaps intentionally recalls Pierrot figures from the Art Deco era.| Size: | Frames : 44.4cm x 39.3cm x 2cm Prints : 29cm x 21.5cm (approx) |
