Two prints of Parisian scenes after Maurice Legendre, late C20th
Two small prints of Parisian scenes reproducing original paintings by the artist Maurice Legrande, born 1928, well known as an impressionist sculptor and painter who specialised in Parisian and London landmark scenes. We see here the Place du Tetre in Montmatre and the Eiffel Tower with the Seine, each with the artist’s signature at the bottom. The style of painting is very reminiscent of the 1950s and is quite similar to the work of Caroline Burnett. Legrande’s work was variously reproduced in the 1970s and 1980s, one known publisher being Krisarts of Paris, but the source of these reproductions cannot be determined. They do, though, capture Legrande’s work well and are a pleasing memento of ‘The Great City’.| Size: | Frame 20.7cm x 16.7cm x 1cm; Prints 15.2cm x 11.5cm (Eiffel Tower) 15.5cm x 11.5cm (Montmatre) |
