French Art Deco cocktail ring with amethysts and 18k gold accents, c1930

This ring is a showstopper. It is a large oval design that is set with amethysts and marcasite stones and has two gold accents. It is marked '925' adjacent to British import marks and with a French hallmark comprising '18K', a symbol, and what looks likely to be '980'.
