LOT NUMBER 3
Khmer style bronze head of Buddha set on a wood base
This is a beautiful bronze head, presumably from an original statue, that is rendered in the well known angular Khmer style from Cambodia and depicts an image of Buddha rendered with typically elongated ears and the familiar conical helmet. The head is set on a roughly formed square wood base with traces of wax and was perhaps used in a devotional context.Size: | 14 cm high (head), 17 cm high (head with base) |
Weight: | 745 grams |
Date: | 20th century |
Condition: | Good condition with the patina oxidised to a greenish colour as is typical for these bronzes. This may or may not be an indication of age and we strongly recommend the seeking of expert advice if a dating is sought rather older than our cataloguing.. |
Estimate: | £40 – 60 |
