Taxco aventurine Aztec mask pendant on a later flat curb chain, c1980
This is a very recognizable Taxco pendant that comprises a carved aventurine Aztec mask with headdress. This motif appears throughout the years in Taxco from 1940 onwards. This particular piece is post 1980 as it is marked 'TS-50'. T for Taxco and S for the city and the silversmith registration number, an identification system which only came into use after 1979. It is also marked 'Mexico ACL 925'. It is fitted to a beautiful and heavy flat curb chain, marked Italy 925.Size: | Chain 74 cm, Pendant 6 cm x 2.4 cm |
