Taxco Enrique Ledesma bracelet, 1950s
This is a very rare bracelet by the Taxco silversmith Enrique Ledesma. It has a an X or "kiss" design inlaid with lapis and turquoise.It is marked 'Ledesma' 'Taxco' '925' 'Hecho en Mexco' (Made in Mexico).
Enrique Ledesma (d1979), worked in his father's Mexico City workshop as a child. After studying painting and sculpture at the San Carlos Academy of Art, Ledesma began his career in silver. He worked with William Spratling at Taller de Las Delicias, Taller Los Castillo and later at Taller Borda for Hector Aguilar, opening his own shop at Exconvente #10 Plateria Ledesma in about 1950.
