A Fine Amazonian paddle, Brazil, Guyana

The tubular shaft ending on one side with a  crescent shape finial and at the other end by a large flattened blade; the whole surface decorated with black geometric motives. Very fine brown Patina.

Provenance: Baron Freddy Rolin, Brussels and New York

Baron Freddy Rolin (1919-2001) was a well known collector and dealer who organised ground breaking exhibitions in New York ( African Ivories, 1978) (Luba-Hemba 1979). He retired in Belgium where he lived amongst his paintings (He owned a Wermeer, fine furniture and important tribal Art), enjoying rich conversation about arts with his family and friends.
