TEST ITEM - Portrait of Jagat Singh of Mewar, Udaipur, Rajasthan, India, 19th century,
Portrait of Jagat Singh of Mewar, Udaipur, Rajasthan, India, 19th century,
gouache with gold on paper, the ruler depicted with his minister, inscribed in devanagari on the top border, old label on the reverse reading Sir Harodiji Jagat Singh Maharaja of Udaipur and his minister Nathy[?]. There were two rulers of Udaipur about a century apart with the same name, Jagat Singh, son of Karan Singh, who ruled 1628-52 and Jagat Singh, son of Sangram Singh, (1734-51). This is probably the latter.
