An Exceptional Group of Painted Ivory Miniatures, Lucknow, Oudh, India, c.1830,
gouache with gold on ivory, comprising twelve rectangular and two oval panels framed as a group. Provenance: Private Collection, France. Although this group of paintings has clearly been reframed later, the style of dress and jewellery suggests a date around 1820-30 from Lucknow, the ensemble of pictures probably commemorates the marriage of the girl in the centre, shown with her groom on the left and her mother on the right.
