Brooch by Archibald Knox (1864 - 1933) made by W.H. Haseler for Liberty & Co, 1905

This is a very rare brooch designed by Archibald Knox for Liberty & Co. It is silver with enamel work in a very recognisable Knox design. It bears full hallmarks for W.H.Haseler, Birmingham, 1905. This firm was founded in 1848 by William Hair Haseler in Birmingham and became a limited liability company in 1901. Liberty's range of jewellery and silver sold under the trade name of 'Cymric', launched in 1899, was manufactured in association with them and later they also made the 'Tudric' pewter range for Liberty's continuing to work with them until 1926. The combination of an innovative designer with an accomplished manufacturer makes this brooch a highly desirable collector's item.
