Grand Tour lava cameo Brooch, c1800

This is a wonderful example of Grand Tour jewellery. It is a brooch set with very fine classical style carvings in lava. It appears to be a pair of earrings that were later converted into a brooch. The setting is in rolled gold with a silver pin to the reverse.

Weight: 11.2 grams
Date: c1800
Condition: Very good condition generally. There is a fine crack on one of the teardrop shaped pieces. This appears to be pre setting so is original to the piece.
