LOT NUMBER 2
A Pair of Glass Vases or Paperweights, probably Selkirk Glass, Scotland, 1980s/1990s
A pair of Glass Vases of bottle form the pear shape bodies rising to slender necks, each decorated in a complimentary design of swirling ribbons in red white and blue, the bases with a clear smooth slightly irregular circular foot. While obviously with decorative appeal the weight and form of these pieces suggest that they might also have been intended as paperweights. Similar pieces, but with slightly different decoration were made by the Selkirk Glass factory in Scotland and bear their paper label and the provenance of this pair of vases is most likely the same. The business was set up by Peter Holmes and Ron Hutchison in 1977. Peter Holmes left in 2002 and Caledonian Investments bought it in 2004 but the firm was finally closed in 2006.Size: | Ht 11.5cm and 12cm, Max Width 6cm |
