LOT NUMBER 4
Small frill rim glass vase, Island Studio Glass, Guernsey, late C20th
A small glass vase in mottled blue and deep pink, the broad ovoid body narrowing towards the neck which flares out into a frilled rim, the base with a three character moulded mark. The mark here, usually held to represent three lions, is that used by the glassworks Island Studio Glass, based in Guernsey, some of whose pieces also carry a label bearing their name. This little known studio was founded with the assistance of Michael Harris of Isle of Wight Glass and traded from 1980 to 2002. It seems to have specialised in pieces employing distinctive mottled glass, many with frill top rims as here. The mark reflects the coat of arms for Guernsey which comprises three lions or leopards and seems to have been applied to most of the pieces produced.| Size: | Ht (max) 10.5cm, Width (max) 7cm, Base 4.5cm |
| Weight: | 335gm |
| Date: | Late C20th |
| Condition: | Good condition generally; one surface flaw to the body (see image XXXX) |
| Estimate: | £20 – 30 |
