LOT NUMBER 18
Cylindrical bark glass vase, probably Geoffrey Baxter for Whitefriars, second half C20th
A cylindrical glass vase, the surface heavily textured to resemble tree bark and the base countersunk. Vases with this particular form of ‘bark’ decoration seem to be attributable to the work of Geoffrey Baxter who joined Whitefriars Glass in 1954 and began producing the ‘Textured Range’ of glass in 1967, the cylindrical ‘bark glass’ form being one of the signature designs of the range. Very similar pieces to this vase can be seen in the catalogues from the late 1960s and early 1970s (see image 7) so both the identification and dating here are fairly certain.| Size: | Ht 19.2cm, Top diam 8.2cm, Base (variable/max) 7.8cm |
| Weight: | 1.13kg |
| Date: | 1960s/1970s |
| Condition: | Good condition, no issues. |
| Estimate: | £50 – 80 |
