Murano style Cockatoo, probably Italian late C20th

A glass figure of a cockatoo perched on a stylised rock, its head turned backwards with the plumage in clear glass, the body and feathers in striped glass with shades of grey and black interspersed with clear and white glass, the clear glass ‘rock’ with highlights in green and a polished flat base. Many glass figures of the cockatoo bird can be found and most are usually described as either Murano style or as made in Murano itself, but there are few, if any, marks to authenticate this. The quality and style of the work here certainly suggests Italy and ‘Murano style’ is the safest classification with a dating most likely to the late C20th.
