Red glass Scent Bottle and Stopper with foil decoration, Phoenix Glass, signed, late C20th
A scent bottle and stopper, the body of slender ovoid form with a short cylindrical neck below a flat rim, the stopper with a ball shape knob, the red mottled glass with silver colour foil decoration, the base with an etched signature reading ‘Phoenix Glass’.The Phoenix Hot Glass studio was founded by Roger Tye at Sunderland, England in 1989 and traded until the early 2000s. All its products were designed and made by him and some even carry his signature which is not the case here. Tye’s work resembles that of other British glass studios, in particular Isle of Wight Glass, but has an individuality of its own making his pieces highly collectible. Dating is probably to the end of the twentieth century.
