LOT NUMBER 2
Long graduated strand of Chinese Hubei turquoise beads c1930
This is a wonderful long stand of beads that are carved into a very smooth natural shape that is very typical in Chinese beads. There is no clasp, and they appear to be on the original string. Chinese turquoise is mainly mined in the Hubei province, hence the name. It comes in all colours and variations. Unfortunately, it got a bad reputation because unscrupulous dealers started selling it as North American which devalued Hubei. This is in the past, however. Hubei now is appreciated for its own beauty and diversity. This necklace is especially interesting as the stones are very clean with no veining or matrix.Size: | 76 cm long, large bead 15.6 x 10.8 mm |
