Chinese Red Lacquer Box and Cover circa 1880
A Chinese Lacquer Box and Cover, the base and lid decorated with a design of massed peony and chrysanthemum heads in red lacquer and the lid inset with an irregularly shaped plaque depicting a garden scene with peony, butterflies and rocks within a diaper design border all in polychrome lacquers. The interior with a contemporary paper lining. Style and technique suggest a circa date to the end of the nineteenth century.| Size: | 21,5 x 17,5 x 5 cm |
