Harmony Kingdom Trinket Box with Puffins, dated 2001
A novelty trinket box, the wood interior covered in ivory coloured resin modelled to form a group of puffins closely packed together, their faces and feathers picked out in grisaille detail and their beaks in mustard yellow and red, the interior with a snake at the bottom and the base with a paper label reading ‘Harmony Kingdom’ ‘Made in England’ ‘In Fine feather’ ‘Copyright 1996’. Inside the top rim is scratched mark ‘1 May 2001’ ‘VAS’ which gives the exact date of manufacture and presumably the initials of the maker.Harmony Kingdom is a business set up by Peter Calvesbert in 1992. Their studio is situated in the Malvern Hills and they have been producing whimsical figurine sculptures for over 25 years which have an enthusiastic following, particularly in the USA. ‘In Fine Feather’ is a discontinued item so now has a very modest rarity value in addition to its intrinsic charm.
