Pair of small oil paintings, views of Florence, signed and framed, C20th
A pair of small square oil paintings with two views of Florence : to the left the Ponte Vecchio bridge and to the right the Cathedral (Il Duomo). These colourful views are painted in an impressionistic style typical of souvenir pieces created in the mid twentieth century. The format of the label, confirming that the pieces are ‘hand painted’, conforms with this. The artist has signed his work but, unsurprisingly, cannot be identified. The frames are doubtless original and the pair would have been offered to tourists at the time as a memento of their visit but would retain their attraction today for a contemporary visitor to the city.| Size: | Frames : 11.5cm x 11.5cm x 2.5cm Paintings : 7.3cm x 7.3cm |
