Chinese Silk Embroidered Textile depicting Sages and Boys in a Garden Scene, of elongated rectangular form, the light olive green cloth with embroidered figures of sages and boys seated on a variety of animals, some mythical, and all holding various attributes including fans and musical instruments, in the background a stylised garden scene with flowers and rocks with clouds and mountains in the distance, a small border to the panel with a repeating geometric design.The panel is framed by a broad band of dark beige coloured fabric with a repeating diaper design, typical of early twentieth century work. The stitching is bold rather than subtle which again conforms to the period, but the overall effect is both amusing and decorative. The European frame may well be contemporary.
